About the language

Phoenician is a dead Semitic language, from the same family as Arabic. It was the language of the cities on the eastern Mediterranean coast such as Tyre, Sidon and Byblos. Phoenician traders spread it across the Mediterranean as far as Carthage in Tunisia, where it was known as Punic.
