About this book
The Yorkshire moors in the north of England. One night Mr. Earnshaw comes home to Wuthering Heights with a strange child he found in the street. He names him Heathcliff and raises him with his daughter Catherine. The two grow up bound by an attachment that cannot be broken, but Catherine chooses to marry Edgar Linton, a rich and refined man, and Heathcliff leaves in anger, coming back years later rich and hard.
From there his revenge begins: on Hindley, Catherine's brother, who humiliated him as a boy; on Edgar, her husband; and on Isabella, Edgar's sister, whom he marries without love. Even after Catherine dies, her ghost haunts him, and he finds no peace until he dies and is buried beside her, as the revenge ends with the new generation.
