About the language
Malay is an Austronesian language and the national language of Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. It is the mother tongue of about 25 million people and is used by about 80 million, and it is very close to Indonesian.

Writing system
Written in the Latin alphabet from left to right; it also has an Arabic-based script called Jawi.
