Networking Fundamentals
This course explains networking fundamentals and how to build a small computer network and configure it from scratch, with practice in the Packet Tracer program. It starts with networking concepts, network devices and media, then types of networks and network topologies, and then you learn to download Packet Tracer and about network addresses. After that you go into the IPv protocol and converting an address between binary and decimal, then the subnet mask, subnetting and the subnet ID. Next you move to protocols, ports and connecting to the network, building a small network with a hub and a switch, using VLANs to isolate the network and filter traffic, a DHCP server to give IP addresses automatically, and a router to connect networks. The course suits every beginner who wants to understand networks and anyone heading into technical support or networking. You need no previous experience, as the explanation starts from the first concepts and continues with hands-on practice. By the end you will be able to design a small network, divide it, set it up and test it on the simulator.
